What You Need To Hunt Ghosts This Halloween
The veil between worlds is thinning and there are plenty of spooky places to explore. The good news is that you probably already have everything you need to contact spirits.
The right place
Pick a known haunted location if you can. Arnos Vale Cemetery is as active as it is beautiful. Redcliffe Caves and the SS Great Britain are also known for their spirits. Wherever you go, get permission.
Nerves of steel
Open your mind to possibilities and mentally prepare yourself for getting spooked. Meeting even a friendly ghost can be a shock.
A smartphone camera
It’s a good idea to take photos and video footage of what’s happening around you. Your camera can pick up things that your eyes can’t. Lights that move too fast to be dust, dark shadows where there is no light, an outline of something blurry.
Download an app
Of course there are now apps for this. Download a good EMF/EVP app to your smartphone. The EMF will record electromagnetic energy that spirits (and anything electrical) give off. The EVP will record any sound as you ask the spirits questions. Once you’re home, play the footage back and see what the app picked up.
A sensitive friend
Some people were born with the ability to sense ghosts. Take someone with you who has experienced these things before and they can let you know if something draws near.
It doesn’t take much to start your paranormal adventure, just remember to stay polite to anyone or anything you meet.
Not quite ready for the real thing? Keep the lights on while reading how sensitive Erica Murray and friend Jess deal with spirits in this Bristol-based paranormal fantasy boxset series by local author J. E. Nice. Only 99p for Halloween.
